This workshop celebrates these joyful symbols while creating art that's not only perfect for Easter but timeless enough to enjoy year-round.
Workshop Highlights:
- Flower Cat Design & Watercolor Painting: Students will begin by designing a cat silhouette filled with beautiful, colorful flowers. They'll finish their artwork using watercolor paints, creating a masterpiece to display.
- Handmade Paper Flowers: Learn how to craft large, stunning paper flowers! Students will create flowers from individual paper petals to a fully formed bouquet.

Our Inspired by Japan Arts Day offers a vibrant and hands-on exploration of Japanese culture through various art forms, including painting, mixed media, drawing, and sculpting. Children will not only learn about Japan's rich artistic traditions but also create their own masterpieces inspired by the beauty and wonder of the Land of the Rising Sun.
Workshop Schedule & Highlights:
Canvas Artwork: Cherry Blossoms
April is the season when Japan’s iconic cherry blossoms (sakura) bloom, and we’ll celebrate these beautiful flowers by painting them on a ready-to-hang canvas. Using acrylic paints, kids will learn how to capture the delicate beauty of cherry blossoms in full bloom, creating a piece of art they can proudly display at home.
Mixed Media Collage: Koi Fish Pond
Next, we’ll dive into the colorful world of the koi fish, a symbol of strength and perseverance in Japanese culture. Children will create a layered artwork of koi fish swimming in a serene pond using a combination of paints, mixed media, and collage materials. The result will be a dynamic, textured piece that represents the peaceful beauty of Japanese ponds.
Clay Art: Mini Sushi Charms
Time for a fun and playful clay activity! Kids will hand-build mini sushi charms out of clay, and we might even add a Gudetama (the famous lazy egg character from Japan) to the mix! This hands-on sculpting project will teach basic clay techniques while tapping into the fun, quirky side of Japanese pop culture.
Character Drawing (Optional/time permitting)
If time permits, we’ll wrap up the day by learning how to draw popular Japanese characters. This session will provide kids with the skills to sketch their favorite characters, bringing a little piece of Japanese animation to life.
Throughout the Day:
- Lunch Break: We’ll have a relaxed lunch break where kids can recharge. Please bring a nut-free lunch and a water bottle to keep hydrated.

Dive into Easter holiday creativity at our' Fun & Games' arts workshop! This exciting session is designed for young artists to explore their artistic talents through a variety of fun and engaging projects centred around the theme of games.
Each student will bring their work home and the games can be shared and played with family and friends.
Workshop Highlights:
- Hand build with polymer clays: Students will unleash their creativity as they build and design their own tic tac toe game, creativity is key for this imaginative game design project.
- Create and design your own painted art game: Our students will create a unique and fun playing board with some simple guidelines. We can't wait to see what they all design, dreams are meant to come true! Watercolour paints, markers and illustration materials.
- Character Design for games; Design an avatar of your own. Drawing, colour and plenty of imagination will be the focus for this character design project, each student will be bringing their own ideas as we help them develop a unique Avatar.

Information for Parents
Please check that you have booked the correct art session.
For all Holiday art workshop purchases your booking will be recorded automatically, once you leave the cart and the payment is processed the booking is secure, no tickets needed. Your confirmatio is sent at the time of booking. Easy booking with nothing more to do except arrive, so save the date and read on!
Attending workshops on site:
Please book a ticket for each attending child. your booking confirmation is emailed at the time of booking, please check for this in all email inboxes and save the record.
There are toilet and wash up facilities within the art space.
All holiday art classes are run in our Ormiston Art School Space at 3/30 Shore Street West, Ormiston.
Classes are drop and go. Parents simply sign in and leave.
All art supplies are provided. Wear older 'arty' clothes please.
Pack allergy safe snacks, a water bottle and lunch if staying for long workshops or full day art camp bookings. No nuts.
Attending students will be signed in and contact details and allergy information checked, please make note of allergy information and a parent contact number when booking.
Children should be brought into the studio and collected at the end of the workshop from the studio space promptly at the time allocated..Children don't leave the Art school without a parent or guardian.
Extra support needs? Let us know by contacting us by email before booking as we run a variety of programs and we want to ensure the art tools and techniques will suit each child attending. We run our programs in larger groups of 15-25 children per workshop but also have smaller class options available.
Students who are unable to stay seated while we demonstrate the art techniques may not be suited to the workshops.
Cancellations/refunds:
Book with care, if you change plans, cancel a class or forget to attend you will not be refunded or credited.
Due to the nature of our workshops- materials, planning and preparation are well underway weeks prior.
For early cancelations and credit requests a fairness policy applies, if we can fill the class we are happy to offer a credit to use at the following school break, please email us at least 7 days prior to starting your classes if you require a credit.
Illness cancellations will be credited and should be notified prior to class commencing so we can avoid supply waste.
*Students attending should follow the behaviour policies including our health and safety guidelines. Students should have an interest in art, allowing focus for the activities and time taken to undertake the activities, we are unable to offer 1/1 support as we are running group programs.
Behaviour is important in a shared space. Sadly, bad behaviour is not tolerated and booking will be canceled without refund.
